The school was established in 1965 (Republic of China year 54), and its
surrounding area has historically been a military strategic location, dating
back to the Qing Dynasty and Japanese colonial period. After World War II,
it became a settlement for military families of the Army, and the school was
founded to meet their needs. Initially, it was named Tainan Municipal Jincheng
Junior High School Anping Branch. In March 1967 (Republic of China year 56),
the construction site was selected at No. 47, Lane 4, Dawo Street, Tainan City.
On August 1st of that year, the school was granted independent status and
renamed Tainan Municipal Anping Junior High School. In August 1968 (Republic of China year 57),
in line with the government’s implementation of the nine-year compulsory education,
the school was renamed Tainan Municipal Chengkung Junior High School.
